Tourism Development Specialists
The Department of Tourism's three regional
Tourism Development Specialists provide the following services to
the tourism industry:
Facilitate industry involvement for implementing our shared vision
for tourism in Wisconsin.
Act as a direct line of communication to the Department of Tourism
Staff in Madison.
Work with communities to assess their tourism industry role, needs
and development future.
Make presentations to Chambers of Commerce, Convention and Visitors
Bureaus and tourism organizations concerning the Division programs.
Assist in the planning of community tourism development programs.
Provide technical assistance regarding financial opportunities for
both public and private tourism development programs.
Assist existing businesses with expansion opportunities.
Maintain a support role for staff programs; such as FAM Tours, Film
Office, Heritage Tourism, etc.
Industry link to other State Agencies; such as DNR, DOT, WHEDA, UW-Extension,
Department of Agriculture, etc.
Maintain contacts with Federal Agencies related to tourism
in order to support the tourism industry (USTTA, EDA, US Forest Service,
National Park Service, etc.)
Provide community tourism focus through the Community Tourism Analysis
Program: a three step process used to assess the community's tourism development
options:
1. Inventory of tourism resources
2. Market Evaluation
3. Design development strategy
